Since the launch of the Journal, the concept of diffusing scientific knowledge in the field of gastroenterology and hepatology has been well preserved for more than 80 years.

　　Acta Gastro-Enterologica Belgica is now the official publication of the three following societies (Société Royale Belge de Gastro-Entérologie, Vlaamse Vereniging voor Gastro-enterologie and Belgian Week of Gastroenterology) and is published in partnership with nine other Belgian scientific societies. Acta Gastro-Enterologica Belgica principally publishes peer-reviewed national and international original manuscripts, reviews, letters to the editors, expert points of view and guidelines in the field of clinical gastroenterology, hepatology, digestive oncology, digestive pathology, as well as clinical nutrition.

　　Since 2020, Acta Gastro-Enterologica Belgica has become a fully open-access Journal in order to keep the Journal attractive in an interconnected world and in order to increase its visibility, to promote disease care and to facilitate communication within and between our scientific societies.

　　1933年，乔治·布罗赫（第一主编）和他的同事约瑟夫·马森（Joseph Masion）和莱昂·道梅里（Léon Daumerie）共同资助了第一本全国胃肠病学杂志《Belge de Gastro-Entérologie》。这是法国美食协会的官方刊物。战争结束后，1946年，该杂志以其现在的名字“比利时胃肠道学报”重新发行。

　　该杂志创刊以来，80多年来，在胃肠、肝病领域传播科学知识的理念一直保存完好。

　　《比利时胃肠道学报》现在是以下三个学会（比利时胃肠道学会、比利时胃肠病学会和比利时胃肠病周）的正式出版物，并与比利时其他九个科学学会合作出版。贝尔吉卡胃肠病学学报主要出版同行评议的国内外原稿、评论、致编辑的信、专家观点和指南，涉及临床胃肠病学、肝脏学、消化肿瘤学、消化病理学以及临床营养学等领域。
